There are currently three ice rinks in Melbourne. All of them run beginner and intermediate hockey classes to get you skating, crossing over, puck handling and most important of all, stopping!

Classes generally align with school terms, however both IceHQ and Olympic offer casual drop-in classes if you miss out on the start of term and want to get started right away.

IceHQ, Reservoir

IceHQ's Ice Hockey School caters to all skill levels with beginner, intermediate and advanced classes.

IceHQ also offers the option of attending single classes on a casual basis, perfect for anyone who's missed the start of term or simply wants to try a class out before committing.

O'Brien Icehouse, Docklands

Hockey Academy at O'Brien Icehouse offers a wide range of classes including:

  • Adult Intro

  • On the Edge (skating technique and edgework)

  • Hockey Fundamentals (intermediate hockey skills)

  • Power Skating

  • Shooting 101

  • Puck Control

  • Goaltending Clinic

O'Brien Icehouse also provides off-ice classes and have an on-site gym for general training.

Olympic Ice Skating Centre, Oakleigh

Next Level Hockey Australia (NLHA) runs classes at Oakleigh's Olympic Ice Skating Centre for beginner, intermediate and advanced players, as well as one on one or small group goalie training.


Once you’ve signed up for classes, register with us to let us know you’ve started training and want to be considered for our next season.

After a successful term of hockey school, you’ll be ready to join our beginner team, Southern Lights C2.
