The Southern Lights are a Melbourne-based ice hockey team and Australia’s first LGBT+ ice hockey team, formed as part of Australian LGBT Ice Hockey.  

Our club

The club welcomes all players regardless of sexuality or gender. Hockey is played with mixed gender teams and team rosters are decided solely on players’ hockey skills.

The Southern Lights compete in iceHQ’s beer league. We currently have a number of teams across both Pools C and B which cater to a variety of skill levels, and are always looking to add more.

As well as welcoming all members of the LGBT+ community, we also welcome allies who want to join our club.
