UNIFORMS

For Division 9 Magellanic

You’re wearing our Black uniform. There are no colour clashes in Div 9. Therefore, only one jersey is required.

Please purchase our Black jersey from here: https://southernlightsicehockey.com/shop/player-jersey.

Generally, the name on a jersey is a last name, but you are welcome to have it be anything, including a preferred name or nickname. And make sure the size you choose fits your padding underneath it. If in doubt, go up a size!

If your chosen number is already being used on the team, you will be contacted to choose another number, so have a couple of backup numbers ready.

For all other divisions

IceHQ requires you to have both a home and an away jersey. This is a league requirement.

  • Lights Div 6 (Blues), 7 (Snares) & Div 8 (Southern Lights):

    • Home jersey is Black - Away jersey is White.

  • Lights Div 7 (Fiordlands):

    • Home jersey is White - Away jersey is Black.

  • Lights Div 6 (Humboldts)

  • Home jersey is Purple- Away jersey is White.

To buy jerseys, please go here: https://southernlightsicehockey.com/shop/player-jersey

If you wish to borrow a jersey for the season, please get in touch with treasurer@southernlightsicehockey.com to see if this will be possible, this is especially the case if you’re on a team playing with Purple jersey.

PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW ALTERNATE UNIFORM POLICY

For your alternate jersey, you can have a Southern Lights jersey or you can use another jersey you already own in the appropriate colour scheme as long as the number is permanently affixed to the jersey (ie. sewn, printed) that doesn't conflict with another players number and is not a from another IceHQ Rec League team. You should bring both jerseys to every game just in case they’re needed.

It is no longer appropriate to flip a jersey and tape a number onto it, this is frowned upon by the rink and referees and allowing it was a temporary measure to give players time to acquire the second jersey required.

FEES

HOW MUCH ARE THE FEES

The fees listed below are for players who sign up before the first game and are discounted from there based on the number of hours of ice time missed.

The fees have not yet been set as we have not yet finalised our teams and confirmed final rink fees.

Our fees are for the full season, plus finals and two hours of training.

You can expect them to be less than $650 including insurance for a skater

Division 9 is normally for a short 12 game season, plus finals and five hours of training, while Divisions 6-8 are normally for a 16 game season, plus finals and two hours of training.

This season, insurance is paid per team (about $55 each player). If you play with us and another team (ie Womens or as a goalie elsewhere) you can expect to pay insurance twice. This is a rink decision.

How to Pay

Payments are made through Xero accounting software, allowing you to pay by credit card. Fee-free payments by direct bank deposit are still welcome. The details of our bank account are on the invoices you will receive.

Partial Payments

By joining the Lights, you are committing to paying for a whole hockey season. There are no discounts for overseas travel. However, fees are waived due to prolonged injury, illness or other exceptional circumstances. In these cases, you must email the Treasurer, as they are often unaware of these circumstances.

Financial Arrangments

We understand that Ice Hockey is expensive. If you need more time to make payments, please email the Treasurer. We can provide time extensions and work with special circumstances on request, but if we don’t hear from you, then we can’t help you. For anyone with existing special financial arrangements, you will be contacted about keeping them for this season.

Fee Schedule

The standard fee payment schedule is:

  • Deposit $50 (this should already be paid)

  • The 1st instalment is due September 29th and is $200. This payment must be made before your first game is played.

  • The 2nd instalment is due November 10th and is $200.

  • The 3rd instalment is due January 5th and will be less than $200, but has not yet been finalised.

  • All payments must be completed before you will be allowed to play in January.

  • Invoices will be sent one at a time from Xero.

  • There is a different fee schedule for Goalies. We will communicate to you where this applies.

The fortnightly (on request) payment schedule is:

  • Deposit $50 (this should already be paid)

  • Nine fortnightly payments will be made starting September 29th. They will be $65 each. The last one may be higher or lower than $65 depending on the final price for the season.

  • Fortnightly payments will be sent 14 days before their due date.

  • The deposit and six fortnightly payments must be completed before you will be allowed to play in July.
