Overview of Team Formation and Registration for Winter 2026
Thanks for your interest! We're excited you're considering joining us for the upcoming Winter 2026 season at IceHQ. We understand the importance of transparency in the team formation process and we're committed to being upfront about the timelines and team structures for the upcoming season.
The timeline of the Winter 2026 season can be found here.
Team composition
Each team will include one goalie and a number of skaters ranging from 15 (the minimum required by the league) to 20 (the maximum allowed by our club).
Waitlist process
We can add you to a waitlist if we can't place you on a team before the season starts. We will notify you as soon as possible about your status so you can explore other options if needed.
The club has agreed to assign players to teams based on the following priorities:
Skill level to play in the appropriate division
.Current players electing to stay in their teams for the next season
Players who have played in the past two seasons and, in the following order
a. Have a history of volunteering with the club.
b. Nominate to play on a specific team, even if it is promoted or relegated.
c. Request placement in a particular division/night of the week
New players joining the club, and Lights players returning after more than 2 seasons off.
This preference system is intended to make the decisions transparent and provide consistency. Including players who have played in the last two seasons encourages players to take time off from the club, either playing for others (other teams, IHV, or other sports) or resting.
Club team assignments
All communication will be via email, with links to our website. We will additionally make announcements on social media about coming deadlines. If you have a teammate who might miss these messages, please contact them using their preferred communication method. This is inclusion in action, and we can all make a difference.
